Norwegian skiing superstar Therese Johaug is coming out of her early retirement after feeling obliged to bow out of her latest Olympic journey, which was accompanied with success, two years ago.
However, Johaug isn’t coming back to just compete, she is coming back to win and perform at an elite level.
“If I don’t ski at the level I want, then I won’t go into the World Championships,” Johaug said, in and interview with Aftenposten (h/t NesInEnglish). “Then I want one of the other women to take my place.”
“Nils Jakob and I are very much in agreement that I go for this,” she said of her goals, which are first to to qualify for the national team again before heading on to capture more gold.
Johaug will be training again with her former teammate, Olympic gold medalist and World Champion Marit Bjørgen.
“I get lots of advice from her,” Johaug said, “on everything from having energy for training to having a baby at home.”
